My name is Rose Zygiel, and I am the new second /third grade teacher at Holy Spirit Central School. My husband and I are both Catholic, and I look forward to teaching in a religion-based school. I am a 1980 graduate of Norway High School, and I received my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, with a Mathematics major, from Northern Michigan University in 1984. It seems hard to believe, but I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders during my 32 years of teaching at Norway Elementary School. I retired from teaching three years ago and have been a substitute teacher. I take much pride in watching our students grow from little, excited Kindergarten students to confident, high school graduates. Knowing that I had the opportunity to be a small part of their successful lives is a special feeling that makes our profession so worthwhile.
My husband, Tony (who retired from teaching in 2013) and I are the proud parents of two grown children. Our daughter, Miranda, graduated from St. Norbert College in 2013 and is a third grade teacher at the Howard-Suamico School District. Our son, MIke, graduated from Norway High School in 2013 and Northern Michigan University in 2018. He is now employed by Winona Foods in Howard, Wisconsin.
Sports have always played an important part in my life, and when I'm not at school, it's what I enjoy doing the most. I am a sports fanatic who enjoys watching all sports, and still participating in some sports. When I was a student, I found participating in athletics to be a perfect balance to the academic requirements of school. Basketball and running continue to be my favorite sports, and I was lucky enough to be part of the 1979 Norway High School Girls Basketball State Championship Team. In college, I was also a member of the NMU Cross Country Team. My three favorite professional teams are the Green Bay Packers, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Tigers!
These two quotes can apply to everything we do with our lives~~
